NORTH CAROLINA, USA, January 29 — An 11-year-old boy named Michael Morones attempted suicide by hanging this past Thursday after being bullied for his participation in the “My Little Pony” fandom.
His suicide attempt was halted and though Michael survived, he sustained brain damage.
At the time of the press release, which was made on the Facebook page of RED Talent Management on Jan 27 and independently confirmed by Equestria Daily, the family was unaware of what Michael’s health-state would be like, should he recover.
The family is accepting donations directly to this PayPal account: firstname.lastname@example.org (also verified as legitimate by Equestria Daily).
A third-party fund-raiser on GoFundMe.com labeled as “Michael Morones Recovery Fund” has raised over $11,000 out of a $20,000 goal at the time of publication. This fundraiser is operated by Eileen Montgomery, who has spoken with the family personally. Her fundraiser appears here.
An eBay charity auction created by username Glowingwolf has also been published for a 16.5-inch MLP Darling Do Plush. That auction can be found here. That auction is set to expire on Feb 1, 11:34 AM PST. At the time of publication, the charity auction highest bidder was at $76.00 USD.
The Furry Post wishes a swift recovery to Michael Morones and strength to his family as they guide him through this trying and heartbreaking ordeal.
